Taiwan 2013 (Part 5) - Jiufen's Tea House

I know, I know... This post is long overdue. Sorry. OK. Don't be so harsh. :P

A  shout-out  to my Japanese students before we start this post! Hiya guys! (*^^*)

So Jiufen. This is probably one of the biggest reasons why I wanted to go to Taiwan. In this old, mining town, we have the model for Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (千と千尋の神隠し) aka Sprited Away's bathhouse. I will repeat myself, I LOVE GHIBLI. So i just had to see it for myself! But I have a surprise for you! In real life, the bathhouse is a tea shop.

Quite reminiscent of the bathhouse from the movie with all the lanterns, yes?

I personally can not read this but I know it says "Home of Yu-baba" or something along those lines!

The coffee is expensive!!!

And to tell you the truth, I had tea elsewhere before I found it. I first found what my guidebook says as the oldest tea house in Jiufen.

A view of Yu-baba's bathhouse from the Tea House I actually had tea in. :P

That tea-house is one of my most favorite memories of Taiwan. :)

Let me warn you guys though, it's not cheap! I think we spent over NT900 for the macha cheesecake and the tea. ; 3 ; It's so worth it though! I thoroughly enjoyed it and if I can, I would go back there all over again. ^^

Anyway, this isn't the end of the Jiufen post. I still actually have a lot to share! Hehe.

See you all next time!
