Guess What?

So I've mentioned before that I've been doing practice teaching, right? Maybe not directly. Haha! So anyway, yes, I'm doing that. And I'm handling sixth graders... They are about as tall as I am!T_T I would have loved to be at least a few inches taller... But I'm not too keen on wearing heels. :P

I think I would have to do that for a couple of months... So that means I have to wake up 5am, go to the Elementary school, work afterwards until 8pm... Get home by 9pm... Eat, bathe, sleep... And repeat the process all over. lol

Well today is the fourth day of said endeavor and I had to be a substitute teacher for an absent teacher for the second time already. That means, I get to be grilled in class without proper preparation! No lesson plan, no idea what and how to teach... You probably haven't experienced this, but it's pure terror.

I'd be totally fine if I would handle English classes though, since I know that stuff... But today, I had to handle Filipino classes and I have to do that for 3 days! Today, I was like:

It was soooo hard to control 6th graders... more so because it really was a sudden task and I had no preparation whatsoever. TT_TT

I guess it was half bad, half good... OK. Maybe 66% bad and 33% good. lol

Let's see some of the good stuff?:)

Puddles. This is one of the buildings in the school I'm "teaching" at. ^^
Sorry it's a bit tilted.

I think these are 1st graders... They aren't allowed to walk in the wet concrete because they might slip, so, there's this "e-motorcycle" to help them cross to the other building.

Answering exams! She's from the first section aka the best section of the grade.

These are my students from section 15. YES. There are 15 sections in Grade 6!
And believe it or not, that day, they were the most well-behaved students I had. :)

Pretentious. :P I asked them to pretend that they were reciting in class for the picture. lol
This bunch was also great. ^^
The other sections I handled today were headaches. Ugh.

6th graders can really be evil. They can and will drive you mad.

After being so noisy in my class they had the nerve to ask for my Facebook. Hahaha. Kids. And really, I'm not about to let my Facebook be invaded by 6th graders... ; 3 ; I think I should get an alternate account. lol What do you guys think?

Am I stressed? Maybe a bit! I'm still getting used to this routine afterall... But hopefully, I'll get the hang of it. ^^

Anyway, I also want to coach their Photo Journalism club so I think I'll be teaching the members of that club too. Can't wait for that! It's something I'm looking forward to. <3

Well that's it. I guess I'll see you guys on another post. :)

Jona

Chiba Minute!

Hahaha. Unless you're from my country, you probably won't understand why the title is funny. :P

ANYWAY!

I have a hectic schedule lately.

In fact, today is the first time I'm able to hold my laptop again from my last post... o_o

Athough I've been busy with school and work, I still managed to have fun! Last week, my student Kenichi-san and his son, Yutaka visited the Philippines. And of course, I hung out with them!

Although it was super rainy and we only had 2 umbrellas for five persons, I'll say we managed to have a lot of fun. :)

Here is father and son, busting some moves while we wait for Melai to arrive!
Guess who the better dancer was?
Yutaka will probably ask me to remove this pic.

A meeting? Nah. We were discussing what to get at Jollibee. :P
Jollibee is the most popular fast food in the Ph!

After playing Laser Tag (And I'm unable to take any picture... Boo!), we headed for bowling at E-lanes!

It was my FIRST TIME to go bowling! Waa!
I was so scared to super mess up. lol

My first try, I got gutter. lol
But the second time, I hit something! I just had to take a picture of the score board!
In the end, I still got a terrible score. lol

Here's what Mr. Yutaka had to say:

"You got ZERO"
Heh. Meanie! :P
(original video from Lai)

After bowling, we headed to Akiba Cafe~

We voted for our favorite cake!

Sweet Potato cake~
2 points!
Yutaka and Melai's pick!

Tiramisu~
1 point!
Kenichi-san's pick!

Matcha Cheesecake~
2 points!
Lai's and my pick!

After drinks and cake, we decided to go to Market! Market! It was raining hard... So we took a taxi. Yutaka and Kenichi were so big so we barely fit inside the cab. lol

Then, in the middle of EDSA, the taxi stalled!

Yutaka is an unlucky person. So that was when I taught him, perhaps, the only Tagalog words he knows...

"Malas ako... Diba?" (I'm unlucky, right?) Oh yes, you are, Yutaka-kun. ^^

So, we went off the taxi and decided to just walk towards the Powerplant Mall. There, we had Pepper Lunch for dinner. Oh, the irony of having lunch for dinner. lol

Kenichi-san really loved his Pepper Lunch!

It was a very exhausting day!!! But I think everybody had fun. I know I did. I just hated the part when we got stuck in traffic and the taxi stalled... While it was raining hard... lol But after that, walking together and talking towards the mall, wasn't half bad!

I realized I have more pictures to show you so I'll leave it for another post.

Thanks for reading!

See you another time. <3

In this part, please allow me to camwhore.
Gah. Sorry about the pale face! I'm not one to regularly wear make-up. ; 3 ;

And this here is Kenichi-san, my cousin Lai and Yutaka the giant! Haha.
He's 16 years old and is 185cm!

Clothes I Wanna Own (CIWO) - July 2013

Hi you guys! I've decided to post something that would be quite a regular on my blog! How awesome is that?! Haha! So, I've decided that every month, I'd be posting pictures of clothes/items that I would love to own. The name of the posts will be "Clothes I Wanna Own" abbreviated as CIWO (lol stupid). I got this brilliant idea from Dana Teoh of Dana TML. But in addition to just picking out cute clothes, I'll try to match them and make an actual outfit!

OK can't wait to start!!!

I will try my hardest to make these blog entries useful for you too by linking shops where you can find these goodies.

Here are my picks for this month!

1. Suspender Skirt in Pastel Colors

Who wouldn't want these?! I totally want them!!!

Found!
Cheapest at: ShopTTop at S$14.50
(Note: it's in Singaporean dollars and they currently do not ship abroad)
(Note: Also available in other colors)

2. Long-sleeves with Detachable Collar

Simple and cute!

Found!
Yoybuy at $17.85
It can also be found, more likely cheaper in Taobao, but I think it's sold out!
Also can be found at "Paopao's Shop" of course!

3. Jeffrey Campbell Firenze Wedge Sneakers
Waa! I'm in pastel heaven!

Found!
Cheapest at: Miss KL at $123.95
(Note: The color seems to be more vivid though)
Taobao at $276.10
Nastygal at $205

And I think that's it! We have a whole outfit sans the accessories. Maybe I should choose accessories on my next post too? At least a bag right?!

Aaaa. And I realized that in this post, I chose pastel colors. :P They will definitely look awesome together though! I wish I could wear THIS! What do you guys think? Would you wear this too?

See you next time!

Jona

Taiwan 2013 (Part 5) - Jiufen's Tea House

I know, I know... This post is long overdue. Sorry. OK. Don't be so harsh. :P

A  shout-out  to my Japanese students before we start this post! Hiya guys! (*^^*)

So Jiufen. This is probably one of the biggest reasons why I wanted to go to Taiwan. In this old, mining town, we have the model for Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (千と千尋の神隠し) aka Sprited Away's bathhouse. I will repeat myself, I LOVE GHIBLI. So i just had to see it for myself! But I have a surprise for you! In real life, the bathhouse is a tea shop.

Quite reminiscent of the bathhouse from the movie with all the lanterns, yes?

I personally can not read this but I know it says "Home of Yu-baba" or something along those lines!

The coffee is expensive!!!

And to tell you the truth, I had tea elsewhere before I found it. I first found what my guidebook says as the oldest tea house in Jiufen.

A view of Yu-baba's bathhouse from the Tea House I actually had tea in. :P

That tea-house is one of my most favorite memories of Taiwan. :)

Let me warn you guys though, it's not cheap! I think we spent over NT900 for the macha cheesecake and the tea. ; 3 ; It's so worth it though! I thoroughly enjoyed it and if I can, I would go back there all over again. ^^

Anyway, this isn't the end of the Jiufen post. I still actually have a lot to share! Hehe.

See you all next time!

xoxo,
Jona

Kawaii in Manila - A Cute Adventure!

Japan, for many people, is the land of all things cute and glittery--a place where you can be yourself completely. And this is true, to some extent. That's why places like Akiba (Akihabara), Shinjuku and Harajuku exist. In these areas, cosplayers, otakus, and the fashionable youth thrive! You'll find enough (if not TOO MUCH) shops to quench your thirst for unique and interesting fashion.

I have never been to Japan.

So how do I quench this thirst exactly? That could prove quite a challenge. Luckily, a new project called "KAWAII IN MANILA" is set to be launched soon!

The project is described as "the first ever lifestyle workshop that recreates the ultimate kawaii experience for every Japan lover."

Sounds quite the solution to me!

And to convince, they now boast this ultra-cute logo:
"Kawaii in Manila" logo designed by Chichi Romero of Little Miss Paintbrush

The project will officially launch this  September (and we just can't wait), so, as a preliminary, my friends and I decided to do a "kawaii" shoot!

Here are some of the pictures we got!

What "kawaii" world is complete without cupcakes?

Our cute stuff!
Take a close look, you might spot some of your favorite characters!

Found anything you wanna buy off of us yet? They are not for sale, sadly! :P

Let's check these accessories out. :)
I'll take the cookie jar necklace, please! Love!

The "kawaii" things in Manila are not just these items though. We also have *cough* the girls *cough*...

Ja "Chu Totoro"
Lai "Chibi Totoro"

Let's finish this post with a really happy note, shall we? "Kawaii in Manila" is holding a worldwide giveaway!

Above cute items up for grabs!

So what are you guys waiting for? Visit their Facebook page already. <33

Jona
